New Waverley (complete)
A multi-award-winning, £240m regeneration scheme in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town, the New Waverley development created a vibrant community in which people can live, work and stay. Place-making was key to unlocking value for this iconic site from the outset. With three hotels, 24 retail units, 190,000 sqft of grade-A office space and a public square delivered to date over a complex site incorporating listed buildings and bordering one of the busiest tourist areas in the UK – Edinburgh’s Royal Mile – we are delighted with the outcome of this phased development.
The Government Hub, a seven-storey development spanning 190,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office space, was the most recent element to be handed over and ready to house 3,000 civil service employees. It comprises two interlinked office buildings and is designed to provide the highest levels of sustainability and operational efficiency. These offices were forward sold to L&G with the benefit of a long lease from the UK Government and were handed over ahead of schedule and on budget in Q2 2019.
