On Saturday 9th December, Artisan’s CEO Jaco Jansen along with Charlotte Swanson, Iain Eckersall, Gillian Cunningham and Karen Tiplady braved the -5 degree Edinburgh weather to sleep out under the stars in order to eradicate the pressing social issue of homelessness in the UK.
The team raised over £6,000 for the charity Social Bite with £3.4m raised during the world’s largest sleep out by the charity so far. In addition, 163 jobs have been created and 495 homes will be available in Scotland within the next 18 months.
Jaco commented “A big big thank you for all those who supported our efforts. It was an amazing and yet totally humbling experience to be part of the crowd of 8,000 frozen sleeping bags scattered across the park below Edinburgh Castle. Seeing the powerful vision of the founder behind Social Bite being rolled out was also a timely reminder of how very ambitious and perhaps overwhelming tasks can be achieved by breaking it down into manageable chunks and surrounding yourself with people who share that vision.”
